Let’s first understand What exactly Pre Sea Training is?
The Pre Sea Training Course is designed for those who seek their career in Deck Category of Merchant Shipping and would like to become Deck Officer or a Navigation Officer. The duration for Pre Sea Training is 3 months which comprises of:
Introduction To Shipping Industry, Familiarization With Deck Department Of The Ship, Deck Safety, Navigation, Metrology, Watch Keeping Duties, Search & Rescue Operations, Flag Signals & Codes, Life Saving Appliances, Survival At Sea, Swimming, Personality Development, English, Foreign Language & Computer
Admission Procedure, Age Limitation, Eligibility Criteria and Medical Fitness :
You do not have to clear any CET(Common Entrance Test) to apply for Pre Sea Training. You can directly apply for the admission in the institutes providing training for this course, but Institutes do have their own selection criteria which might be Written Test or an Interview.
Age Limit: Candidate should be between 17.5 to 25 years old.
1. Candidate should have passed 10th standard with a minimum aggregate of 40% from any recognized Board.
2. Candidate must have 40% marks in English subject in either 10th, 12th or diploma/degree exam.
3. Candidate should be able to speak and comprehend English
Height: 5.5 Feet
Weight: 48 Kg.
Vision: No Color Blindness is permitted, 6/6 Vision in both eyes, No Eye Glasses permitted.
Pre Sea Training is the best option available to join Merchant Navy after 10th , 12th , standard. It is just like an entry level course to Merchant Navy.
This course meets the minimum qualification requirements to become Officer COC.
Certifications: After completing the training successfully, the course certificate are issued by the institute which is approved by Ministry of Surface and Transport, Director General of Shipping and Govt. of India. Additionally the candidate shall be awarded with INDOS & Indian CDC(Continuous Discharge Certificate).
After Completion Of Pre-sea Training Course the candidate has to sail on any 500 grt. or above ship for a minimum period of 09 months or more to apply for Officer Coc Assessments/Exams.
